It is that most celebrated time of year in San Antonio!  Fiesta!  What is Fiesta?  Dating back to it’s beginning in 1891, Fiesta is a way for San Antonio to honor the heroes of the Battle of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto, two key historic battles in the Texas Revolutionary War.  Over the past 128 years, this celebration has evolved and grown into one of the largest festivals in the U.S, celebrating the rich and diverse culture of Texas, and raising more than $340 million per year, which helps to provide services to the citizens of San Antonio.

One of the grandest traditions of Fiesta is collecting Fiesta medals.  As you visit different shops, businesses, vendors, or events be sure to pick up their unique customized medal to either begin or add to your collection.  They are available all over the city, even at Chick-Fil-A!  You’ll note as you attend various Fiesta events folks wearing sashes with these medals adorning them.

While Fiesta is officially from April 18-28, there are many events that begin earlier in the month, and we have provided you with a list of events designed to celebrate and commemorate this time of year!  Fiesta has everything from parades to parties and balls to music and food, and for those that love to run, there’s a few charity run/walks to sign up for.  There’s something for everyone, including the family pet!  Some events require tickets purchased in advance, so please visit for more information.
